FREESTONE MEMORIAL HALL

During recent years 1988 - 1994, a small group of locals have continued to care for and maintain the hall in good condition.

Fund raising for the upkeep of the hall is always on the agenda. The local CWA have been helpful in this regard. In February 1990 the local branch of the QGGA decided to help with a raffle of oil and fuel. This idea has led to an annual raffle of a dressed vealer now being run by Freestone Hall Association members.

The hall was painted in 1990. Some trees were planted to beautify the grounds. New windows have also been fitted.

The CWA had some special projects of which the whole community should be very appreciative. They were responsible for the purchase of the hot water system, curtains and blinds for the windows and a new curtain for the stage.

Government changes in the rules relating to public bodies also meant changes for our local community. In January 1993, the name changed from the Freestone Memorial Hall to Freestone Memorial Hall Association Incorporated.

Many functions are held throughout the year, including dances, cabarets, combined schools art functions, birthday parties and sporting events.

The residents of Freestone take pride in the upkeep and appearance of the hall.
